The Jerusalem Prayer List – March 17th, 2011

by Joseph Shulam

The horrible disaster in Japan is being reported all through the media in the West as a disaster in Biblical proportions.  What does it mean “a disaster in Biblical proportions?”  What does the secular media around the world mean when it uses this term “Biblical Proportions?”  Well, the only thing that I can think about is the flood in the days of Noah, or the disaster in Sodom and Gomorrah, or the end of the World the way the Bible describes it.  How could the Western media actually use this term “in Biblical proportions,” when in fact many don't even believe that these stories in the Bible are real or true.  Well, first of all we see in pictures and videos the forces that God can wield in nature.  We can see the pictures and be filled with owe and fear and empathy for the Japanese nation, and we all realize that the only thing that we can do is really lift up our hands in prayer and beg God to show his mercy to the  Japanese nation.  We have very dear brothers and sisters in Japan and we must lift them up before the Lord and ask Him to protect and save our brothers and all of Japan from any harm or damage.  We ask you to pray for the family of Pastor Tokio Tanaka and his family members who are still unaccounted for. Their church was by the seashore and located at the hard-hit area. Please pray for he and his family and his church.  Pastor Tokio Tanaka was actually praying for the salvation of Israel and the Jewish people for seventy years.  I also ask you to pray for Pastor Takashi Yokoyama who lived in Sendai and had businesses in Sendai.  I believe that he is alive, but we don't know much about his house, his businesses and his family.  The least that we can do is lift all of Japan before the Lord in prayer and just relay on God to prove and show His mercy and grace to all of Japan.  We pray for the authorities to have the wisdom how to shut-down the nuclear plants in Fukushima.  We pray and ask God to find solutions for the hundreds of thousands of refugees who's lives where cast into limbo from the minute that the earthquake and Tusnami struck.  We pray for those who grieve in for their lost and dead relatives in Japan.  We pray for those who are searching for survivors and those who are working in the nuclear plants to be protected from any harm.  We pray for our brothers and sisters in Tokyo for both protection and guidance of the Holy Spirit to know how to witness and comfort their friends and relatives with the Good News God and Yeshua the Messiah.

We also pray for a world gone crazy in all the Arab countries.  The events in the Arab world are not good for anyone, especially for the Arab countries.  I don't know how specifically how to pray but I do know that the prayer that the old prayer that Jews pray called the “Kadish” ends with the following words:  “May the ONE who makes peace in His heavens make peace upon us and upon all of Israel.”  I ask you to pray the same prayer with me, and with all of Israel.  As disciples of Yeshua we must pray for peace, peace with our enemies, peace among our brothers, peace in our families, peace in our communities, and peace with our God.

In Netivyah we are getting ready for Purim.  Our Purim party will be on Sunday evening.  Purim in Jerusalem comes one day after Purim in most of the world because Jerusalem is a walled city.  So, we celebrate Purim one day after Tel-Aviv and most of the other cities.  Passover is a month from Purim and we are already getting ready to bless the soldiers who are believers in Yeshua with a wonderful Passover gift.  We have wonderful and strong backpacks for each and we are going to fill these backpacks with goodies, and necessary items that these soldiers need in the army, and with special food stuff for Passover.  This initiative has come from Yuda and from Nancy Hook who works in the Soup-Kitchen.  Each of these backpacks full of goodies for these soldiers is going to cost 100 dollars US.  If you want to be a part of this special blessings for these young brothers and sisters who are serving in the military and blessing our country and community please go to our web page and you can use PayPal to make a donation specifically for this project.
We already have several dozen orders for the new book, “Planted in the House Of The Lord God: God, Israel and the Church.”  The book is already at the printers, finally!

Please pray for the re-publication of the commentaries on Romans and Acts that need to be republished and reprinted.  We are actually in negotiations with an American publisher, but it seems like in the end we are going to have to reprint these books in Israel.  The cost of printing in Israel is higher but we will be able to get more “royalties” for each book.  Please pray for us both for wisdom and also for the funds needed to print these books.  I know from numerous scholars and preachers and students from all around the world that these commentaries are unique and have a great impact on the understanding and also spiritual life of many all around the world.  I know that people are using these commentaries in universities and seminaries in many places around the world and they are worth republishing.  In order to print 1000 copies of the commentary on the Jewish Roots of the book of Acts we need near 20,000 dollars.  We are talking about a two volume work with about 1800 pages, and in hard cover.  The book of Romans will cost about half of what the book of Acts will cost for printing.  Please just pray for this project because these books will continue to be a blessing and influential for many years after Joseph Shulam will be long gone from the face of this Earth.

Please also pray for the United States and Israel's war against extreme Islamic world wide terrorism.  The eyes of the world need to be opened by the capture of the ship Victoria that carried arms from Iran to Gaza to arm the Hamas with a new generation of land to land guided missiles.  The capture was after terrorists from the Palestinian controlled territory entered a peaceful Jewish home late on Friday night and actually slaughterer a family with knifes cutting the throat of a three month old baby, and two other small children, the mother and the father.  Five people were killed with knifes, cut to pieces, for only one reason, they were Jews!  Most of the world just kept quite, said nothing, did not protest, did not demonstrate, did not mention anything, there were no headlines proclaiming the horrible cruelty and inhumanity of these Palestinian terrorists, there was no suggestion to take the Palestinian leadership to trial in front of the international court for crimes against humanity, there was actually nothing.  Where were all these pro-humanity fighters that condemned Israel for stopping these terrorists filled ships like the Marmara Navi from salesgirl to Gaza?  All the free world has to do is open up it's eyes and see what Muslims are doing to other Muslims to know with whom they are dealing and where the real source of the problem really lies. We need to pray for all those around the world that claim that they want to fight terrorism to be able to look and see and get some real wisdom from God of how to love the Arab people enough in order to bless them and enable them to be freed from the delusion that terrorists are going to win in the end.  The God of Israel is not going to allow lies and deception and cruelty such as Islamic terrorists have perpetrated around the world to win in the end.  Terrorism has been prove in history to first and foremost be a scourge against those who promote it and finance it and encourage it.  You can see this very well now with Muammar Gaddafi's Lybia, as you have seen it with Saddam Hussein in Iraq.  Please pray for these big things because our God is able and capable of changing the way this world turns, and He can do it in a minute.

Kol HaYeshua Radio continues to broadcast every day and the programs are very good, but I do feel that we need a renewal of the anointing of God's Spirit.  We need a freshness that we had before and a joy of teaching and presenting and outreach that we had before.  I ask you to pray for Kol HaYeshua, for Shaul, and Udi, Yuri, Einav, Aviram, and Joseph.  We all need a fresh anointing and new fire from the Holy Spirit to reach out and teach and bless Israel with Good News.

We continue to pray for the sick among us.  We pray for Ahuva, Liora, Leah, Ilana, Sarit, Marcia and David S., David, and Meyrav all from Jerusalem.  We pray for Ruby our dear sister from Oklahoma, and for Paulo from Curitiba, and for Marcia's father Horace, and her mother June, and for Tim Tucker our dear brother, and for Liz our dear sister in Georgia.

I bless all of you with a happy Purim.  I suggest that all of you sit down and read the whole book of Ester in one sitting.  You will see the hand of God moving as “Deus Ex-Mackina” and may be you will be encouraged from the events in your own life that sometime don't have an explanation or reason.

God bless your lives and your service in His Kingdom,

Joseph Shulam
