The Jerusalem Prayer List – April 22nd 2011

by Joseph Shulam

We are in the middle of the Passover Holiday.  Our Passover Seder in the congregation was again very exciting.  We had over 90 participants and among them we had guest from Brazil, Portuguese brothers who live in Bulgaria, one guest from the Philippines, three guests from Korea, and several guests from Tel-Aviv, Israel.  The children were very active and did all the recitations of the Seder with excellence and the food was wonderful, especially with the lambs that were donated to us from Tzon El (God's flock) in the Galilee. Every year for many years our dear brothers from the Galilee have donated three or four or at times even five lambs for our Passover Seder in Jerusalem.  They have done this although their financial needs have not been small, and we appreciate this gift of love from our brothers.

The Passover is always one of the greatest opportunities to explain and deal with the presentation of Yeshua in the Jewish context.  It comes natural to share the message of salvation from the story of the Passover.  Please pray that every home in Israel that shares the story of the Exodus from Egypt will see through the smoke-screen of the Passover Seder Hagadah and discern the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  It was interesting to see how the Israeli discussion on Television has brought the discussion to the New Testament and Christianity.  Israeli society is becoming more and more comfortable with discussing Yeshua and Christianity in relationship to our Jewish history.  This is something that needs some serious prayer and intercession, because I believe that God is going to work in this nation from within and the biblical holidays are some of the instruments that He is going to use to reveal the Messiah to His nation.

Finally my son Barry has organized a very special tour of Israel for this coming September, just before the Jewish High Holidays.  This tour is mainly for people from the United States.  The special part of this tour is that our Jerusalem Netivyah Staff will be with the tour and the guiding will be made by our staff and the teaching and lecturing will be mainly given by me, Joseph Shulam, and probably by some professors and teachers and rabbis from Jerusalem.  We promise that it will be a first class educational experience, fun, and definitely spiritually exhilarating.  I believe that even people who have been in Israel many times will still find many things on our tour that will be new to them and also awaken them to a new zeal for the Lord and His Kingdom and definitely for Israel.  The time for the registration is short and those who are interested in joining this tour need to go to the following web page and do the registration to the Shulam tour:  http://travel.netivyah.org

In the last two months I have been teaching on Monday evenings in Haifa in one of the very fine Russian speaking congregations.  The classes were mainly for leaders who are interested to study theology.  For many of these Russian speaking congregational leaders the idea of restoring the church and following the pattern of the first century New Testament church is new.  Just like this same idea of restoration is new for the majority of the evangelical world. People don't pay attention how different is the church attend is from the church that they read about in the New Testament.  This is really a topic for prayer.

We see that the Arab countries are waking up against the dictators and despots that have ruled them and abused them for decades, and we don't know what will be the end of this revolution.  It is time for the believers all around the world to pray that the changes that are happening in the Arab World will bring something positive and more democratic and more freedoms to the population.  This is an important task for prayer because if the more radical Islamic elements take over countries like Egypt, and Jordan, and Syria, and Yemen, and the Golf-States, the whole world would be in real deep trouble.  Gas prices have already gone already to over 4 dollars per gallon in the United States, and if the radial elements in the Islamic world, elements inspired and supported by Iran, take over gas could go very quickly to over double of what it is now.  So, these issues are very important to pray about for the general good of civilization.

Next week starts a series of lectures that Freddy Intrater and some other young people are organizing and I shall be giving a couple of the lectures starting next Friday morning.  I ask you to pray for me and for these young leaders.  I need to be able to inspire them with the vision and the need to restore our faith to the pattern that was set by the Apostles in the Word of God.  I need to be able to inspire them to be as Jewish as the Apostles were in the First Century and as faithful to Yeshua as the Apostles were in the book of Acts.  In order to be able to do this – I really need God's help and the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Also in May I will give a set of lectures to the Israel Theological Institute in Jerusalem.  This set of lectures will be dealing with the provocative question: Was the Apostle Paul a Hypocrite?  The objective of these lectures is to show that Paul was not a hypocrite, and that he did not live a double life, telling the gentiles one thing and the Jews the opposite.  Here too I need your prayers.  The so called Messianic Jews in Israel have not always been so open to learn from us and now we have so many opportunities to share and teach and train the younger set of leaders in the land of Israel.  Please keep us in your prayers.

We continue to pray for our sick and needy.  We pray and ask you to pray for Ruby in Oklahoma City, and for Paulo in Curitiba, Brazil, and for Ishiida San in Osaka, Japan, and for Marcia's father and mother, Horace and June Saunders, and for Liz Johnson in Georgia.  In Jerusalem we continue to pray for our fine older generation brothers and sisters who are ill and need God's healing hand to touch them:  Liora, Ahuva, Ilana, Leah, Sarit, Sara and Zvi, and also our other younger Zvi who has pneumonia and very sever Astma.  Also, dear brothers and sisters continue to pray for Marcia my wife, and Danah and Noaam my daughter and grand-daughter, and of course pray for Barry my son and his family, Beth and Joseph Shulam my grandson.

Please continue to pray for the ministry of Netivyah in Israel and around the world.  Pray for our brothers in Brazil and Japan, Korea, Finland, Germany, England, the United States and all those who are committed to the restoration of the first century church and the restoration of Israel.

God bless all those who bless the seed of Abraham,

Joseph Shulam
