The Jerusalem Prayer List - June 15 2011
by Joseph Shulam
The summer is here! The heat is on. There are plans in Turkey to send another flotilla to Gaza in order to provoke Israel to react and again challenge the sovereignty, and the right of self-defense of the State of Israel. I realize that in the eyes of the world the situation in the Middle East looks totally different, but the reason for that is because the world does not believe in the God of Israel, nor does it believe in Yeshua the Messiah and Savior. The Jewish people are the only ancient nation that has every returned home from Exile. Exile was invented by the Assyrians and the Babylonians, and it was adopted by the Greeks, and the Romans, and finally the Persians and the Arabs. No nation has returned to their home land after Exile except Israel, the Jewish people. Of course no nation has such promises in the Scriptures that they will be exiled and they will return from the Exile by God's decree. This already happened to Abraham in Genesis chapter 15, when God told Abraham that his seed will be serving another nation for four hundred years and after that return to the land of Canaan. It was good that President Barak Husein Obama actually called Mr. Edwan in Turkey and urged him not to allow the flotilla to continue. I don't think that they will listen to the White House, because what is called the "Arab Spring" is actually the first time that the Arab population in the world is feeling their oats. It is the first time that Arabs have had the courage to bring to a public protest against their governments. The Arabs have never had a democracy or personal freedom. Just look each one of these rulers that are being challenged now by their own populous with the help of Nato, and the United States. We all need to pray that this flotilla of ships loaded with pro-Palestinian, some hired mercenaries, and some elements of radical jihadist Islam, will be stopped by the government of Turkey and if not stopped by God. The power of Prayer is unlimited and we have to believe that all things work out for the good of those who love the Lord, but on the other hand we don't have to be silent and we have the right and responsibility to clamor before our Father in Heaven and express our wishes and desires, all in the name of Yeshua our Lord.
At the Shulam home in Israel we are getting ready to receive our daughter-in-law and the young Joseph Baruch Shulam. In two weeks we will also receive, God willing, Danah and Noaam for two weeks. We will have a full and very happy household. We hope that next year also our son Barry will be able to join us here in Israel. Please pray for this family time in the Shulam home. We pray for good health for all adults and children. We pray for a wonderful and peaceful good time with our family and a good witness to all with whom we will have an exchange.
Israel is facing the fact that most of the nations of the world are going to vote in September for a unilateral acceptance of a Palestinian State in the per-1967 boarders, that also includes the "Right of Return" for Arab refugees from the 1948 war. There is no Israeli government that ever accept such terms and there is no Jewish soul that will be able to live with such a decision, because essentially this would be like taking a gun to our own head and suicide right on the spot. Of course this is what the Arab countries and the Palestinians would like to see happen, but the big question is, "Is that what God would like to see happen?" I would unequivocally say, "No" - the apple of God's eye, and the Israel He loves, will be there until the end and will be saved, as the New Testament and the Old Testament attest so very clearly. (See Romans 11:25-26, Revelation 7, and 15, Jeremiah 46:27, Zechariah 8:13, and many more places.) We all need to pray for the salvation of the Jewish people, because although the majority of Israel is still in unbelief, there promises are there and the remnant is acting and living and pressing toward the same goal that the Prophets of Israel had and that the New Testament promises. Please don't pray for the Jews to become Christians, or Protestants, or Pentecostals, please pray for the salvation of all of Israel and do something even small to speed up the process.
Our brothers and sisters who are ill and who need God's healing hands to touch them and comfort them in their illness are all around the world. The most beneficial prayer is the one that you pray sincerely and with faith for those whom you don't know personally, and you wish them well. In Jewish Tradition it is said that the angels rush to say good things for those who pray and do good deeds for the strangers and sojourners whom they don't know. We pray for our dear brothers and sisters all around the world: Ishiida San, Junko San's Mother in Japan, and Paulo and Lucimary Campos in Brazil, Tim Tucker in Finland, Ruby in Oklahoma City, Liz in Georgia, June and Horace Marcia's mother and father in Tennessee, and Danah and Noaam in California.
In Israel we pray for Jo and her daughters, and for Ahuva, Liora, Leah, Ilana, Sarit, David S., and David, Sara and Zvi, Marcia, Meyrav from Jerusalem, and Naama.
We have some dear brothers and sisters who are in need of work and financial help because of unemployment: Jonathan, Markus & Gabriele, Tomi our dear sister who has a job but does not feel secure in that job, and Ammikam, Manny & Naviu, and Naama.
Marcia and I, were in Italy last week for the first Messianic Conference in Italy. It was wonderful to see old brothers and friends, and to fellowship around the world of God. The Restoration idea is spreading very fast all around the world. It is getting to Europe very slow and especially to Italy, but it is coming around indigenous and freely as the work of the Holy Spirit. Israel is at the very center of this Restoration idea and movement and God is using Israel to bring back a fresh look at the Scriptures from a First Century Context. Please pray for the spread of the Restoration Movement all around the world and for more and more people to desire to return to the pure and simple faith of the Apostolic Era.
The Soup-Kitchen is working well and the involvement of the Social Services is proving to be a blessings and make the work of those handing the food much easier and also at the same time feed a greater number of people. The Newspapers say that in Jerusalem there is more than 10% of the population that is actually needing some social assistance to just survive. The reason for this is very simple, there is a very large population of people who don't work in a regular jobs and don't pay taxes. This is the reason why there is such a deep seeded poverty in this city - that is the capital city of Israel, and the capital of our faith. We need a whole lot of prayer for Jerusalem. This city has a great future promised in God's World, like Isaiah chapter 2, and we are waiting for the total fulfillment of God's prophecies for this city and for the whole World. We have to see ourselves as an army for doing good in the world, and bringing Good News to a largely pagan world. The least and the most that we can do is lift up our voices to God and share our concerns.
The school year is over in the University and we have blessed ten University and Nursing School students with a special stipend of 200 US dollars per month for those students who keep up with their study and get good grades. The reason for this special fund is that we don't want to only give charity to cases that will always need charity. We want to build the younger brothers and sisters in Israel so that they can succeed and grow and be successful financially so that in the future they can support the Body. I want you to pray for the budget for the next school year that will start in October. I want you and your fellowship to think of taking one student and adopting him or her for the ten months of the University year in Israel and providing the two hundred dollars per month for this student. We will be happy. if people would so desire, to provide the name and e-mail of the student and have them correspond directly and share and bless and edify each other in the Lord.
God bless you all, and especially those who bless the Seed of Abraham because the promise is that they will be blessed.
