The Jerusalem Prayer List - Thursday, January 5 2012
by Joseph Shulam
We are now into the New Year. The challenges have not changed. We are meeting with Architects and Engineers and getting ready for the construction on the building. The problems that we face are not small and with God's help and the prayers and help of brothers and sisters we will see this project accomplished. Now we are beginning to work on the design of the interior. We are still very far from where we ought to be with the finances for the building, but we have confidence that God is going to impress many of you to take part in this very important and very necessary building project. The importance of this building is not only in the physical facility made from cement and stone, steel and mortar, but the spiritual implications are much greater. Here are some of the spiritual implications of having a physical building for Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in Jerusalem.
1. This will be a place in Jerusalem that will be decorated like a Jewish Synagogue and when guest will come into it they will have no doubt that this is a Jewish place of worship where Disciples of Yeshua praise the God of Israel and the Savior of the World.
2. This will be the first place of worship in Jerusalem that is not identified with any Christian Denomination or Mission, but is fully indigenous and owned by the local Disciples of Yeshua.
3. This will be the first place of worship in Jerusalem where any Jew, or Gentile can experience a service very similar to the kind of service that the Jewish Apostles in the First Century A.D. would have experienced. Things like Reading from the Scroll of the Torah and the prophets, only human voices praising God, no passing of the collection plate, breaking bread every week, and the study of the Torah, Prophets, Writings, and the New Testament, are all going to be a part of worshiping the God of Israel, and Yeshua the King of the Jews, by Jews and non-Jews, and all in a Jewish Traditional way. The message that the physical gives has to match the spiritual message that we convey to the people of Jerusalem.
In addition to all of the above we need the extra room because often our place of worship is so full that people have to stand through the service. Also the shape of our auditorium now is just not suitable for a place of worship. We have lived with it for near 30 years, but it is time now to open up the auditorium and make it more suitable for a place of worship. We ask you all to make a major effort to bless Jerusalem and Netivyah and Roeh Israel Congregation by praying for God's blessing upon this building project and sacrifice for Jerusalem. Isaiah the prophet said in the 8th Century B.C., "For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch." (Isaiah 62:1) What happens in Jerusalem is so much more important to the Jewish Community the whole World over than anything that happens elsewhere in the World. Please pray for Jerusalem and pray for our building, the soup-kitchen, and Radio Kol HaYeshua, and the book publications. Also please pray for the work of Netivyah around the world, and for our brothers and sisters in Brazil, and Finland, and Japan, and Korea, and the United States, Germany, and other places. In all these places around the world there are brothers and sisters who are praying for us and we are praying for them. May God bless all those who desire to do the will of our Lord and wait for His soon return.
The food distribution program is going through a refreshing by the social workers of the city of Jerusalem. They are changing many of the people who have been receiving food from Netivyah and sending new people and families. Please pray for us to be able to continue feeding the hungry and clothing those who need clothing and providing just a little of the Love of God to those who are in need in this city of Jerusalem.
Not much has changed among our older generation and those who are sick and I ask you to please continue to pray for the sick in Jerusalem and around the world. All those on the list of people who need healing are either Jewish brothers and sisters in need of healing or people who love Israel and Netivyah and are suffering from serious illness. This is true for Ruby, and Tim Tucker, and Ishiida San, and Mrs. Sadako in Japan, and Paul in Brazil, and Liz in Georgia.
We are in the final stages before publishing a new book in Hebrew about the Angel of the Lord, Metathrone, and Yeshua. This is a very important book that is written by Udi who works in Netivyah and myself. Udi wrote about the Angel and Metathrone and I wrote about the Divinity of the Messiah in Jewish thought. When we finish the Hebrew we will translate it to English and probably to other languages. Our other books are now translated to nine languages and we are glad to see them published by the local brothers and sisters in Korea, Japan, Italy, Bulgaria, Finland, Brazil, Germany and Switzerland, of course in Israel and in the English language. Please pray that the good news that is coming from Jerusalem in the 21st Century will be blessed like the Good News that came from Jerusalem in the 1st Century.
Marcia and I will be traveling in two weeks to the United States and from there to Brazil on February 9th. We will be busy teaching and speaking in many places and we need your prayers for our safety and the success of our trip.
Happy New Year to you and all around you,
Joseph Shulam
