The Summer is at hand in the Middle East and the heat has landed upon us all at once. With the heat from the Sun there is also the political heat that is enveloping Israel from every direction. Historically speaking when the Summer comes and the hot weather bakes us it is always a time to contemplate on the end times and the return of the Messiah! The reason for this phenomena is not only political but also linguistic. In Hebrew Summer is "Kaitz" = קיץ and end times (the last days) is "Keitz" = קיץ and in fact the fig tree is also called "Kaitz" equal word to Summer. This is the reason why Yeshua made the same play on Words in Matthew 24 : 32; Jesus used the descriptive analogy of a "fig tree", to instruct his disciples about how we could discern the times: "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh." The phrase "Summer is nigh" is the same in written Hebrew as "The End is near." So, what should our reaction be when we think of the "end is near" or the "Fig Tree Blossoms."
Israel needs your prayers because the course of events is such that unless God saves us we are lost and there is no one that we can trust except the Lord our God!
We are getting ready to start a long trip to Finland and from Finland to the United States. We will be gone for six weeks from Jerusalem and we ask you to pray for us and for the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem during our absence from our home and congregation. We are asking you to pray for David and the office staff and the congregational leadership during this period of my absence from Israel.
In Finland we will start with the Karmel Koti Seminar that is held yearly in memory of Tertu Maria Tucker our dear sister. This seminar is always a meeting point for brothers and sisters from all around Finland and Sweden and sometime people come from Ukraine. Please pray that this time the seminar will be blessed and full of wonderful young people that will rejoice in the Lord.
We ask you to continue praying for all the sick people on our list from last week and keep praying for me too.
To God be the Glory in all things,
Joseph Shulam
