The Jerusalem Prayer List - December 10th, 2009

by Joseph Shulam

A congregation of the Lord's children has to be a family, a village, and an army!  We have just returned to the office from the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) after celebrating the Bar-Mitzvah of one of the children that was born and raised in our congregation in Jerusalem.  It is such a wonderful thing to see the organic growth of a congregation in Jerusalem.  The children grow up so fast and before we know it they learn to read from the Scroll of the Torah and before we know it they are soldiers in the Israeli army and before we know it they get married and have their own children and we have their children circumcised and the wheels of history are turning.  At the Western Wall we meet face to face with the best of Israel and with the worst of Israel's history.  We are there to celebrate and remember and rejoice with the ancient traditions and biblical mandates given by God to Abraham and Yeshua our Messiah and at the same time we are there to see that the beggars continue to have their hands stretched out asking for alms just like they did in the days of the Apostles when Peter and John were going to the Temple to worship.  Our return to Jerusalem and our return to worship and pray and celebrate the ultimate rite of passage for our children together with all of Israel is truly an act of RESTORATION for the Jewish Disciples of Yeshua the Messiah.  Please pray for the Roeh Israel Congregation in Jerusalem.  This congregation is a beacon of light for so many people all around the world who are interested in the RESTORATION of Biblical faith and lifestyle.  We are facing some very major challenges these days and although we have victories the raff of challenges is also going up.

We are going to remodel our building and enlarge our auditorium and we need your support and your prayers.  This challenge is a first class spiritual warfare issue it is not bricks and stones and cement issue at all.  It is an issue of our civil rights and our equality before the laws of the State of Israel.  It is an issue of democracy and freedom of worship and freedom of gathering that the laws of the State of Israel give us as our innate right.  I remember the words of the Prophet Isaiah in chapter 62, "For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns. The Gentiles shall see your rigîss, And all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, Which the mouth of the LORD will name. You shall also be a crown of glory In the hand of the LORD, And a royal diadem In the hand of your God. You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the LORD delights in you, And your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you."  (Isaiah 62:1-5 NKJV)  Isaiah the prophet speaks here of seeing the righteousness of God in Israel and he vows not to rest or be quite until he sees God's righteousness go forward as a light and salvation like a lamp shining over Israel.  I ask you to pray the same prayer because none of us want to see Jerusalem remain desolate or return to the darkness of the middle ages.  We all want to see Jerusalem and the Land of Israel be a watered garden and a place of divine Peace and eternal joy.

As I mentioned above we have some very major challenges and some very clear threats on our family and even our very lives.  We need your prayers and your support so that we can stand and start building as soon as the supreme court of our country grants us the license.  We have had several people give 1000 dollars toward the building fund, but we need 1000 people to do this and the sooner the better.

Our challenges with illness and sickness are still very strong and we continue to lift in prayer those who are sick among us.  I ask you to add Mr. Solomon to your prayer list.  This fine man is old and in the hospital and is covered with the joy of the Lord but also physically he is very ill and needs divine strength to be able to get up and resume his life of faith.  We continue to pray for Danah and Noaam my family.  They too have some serious health issues to deal with and we have only the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to relay upon and trust.  Marcia my wife, and I also have a great need for a better health condition.  We continue to pray for Ahuva, Leah, Miriam, Ilana, Tellervo, Tim Tucker, Lonnie and Barbara, Paulo, Ruby, Zvi and Sara, Sarit, and Liz our dear sister who has just lost Mary her sister.  Praying for the sick is a Mitzvah a good deed that pleases the Lord because it shows that the Body of the Messiah transcends friendship and geography and race and wealth or poverty.

Pray for our wonderful pregnant ladies in the congregation. We have several pregnancy and we expect to have several wonderful circumcisions in the next few weeks.  We pray that the Lord will keep everyone healthy and strong and bring new life from into our fellowship and stretch our tents and enlarge our dwelling places.

We lift all of you who pray for us and for Israel and we ask the Lord God of Israel to fulfill all of His promises to those who bless Abraham's seed and return blessing for blessing and multiply it all by 100 times.
