The Jerusalem Prayer List – February 11th, 2010

by Joseph Shulam (From Vitoria de Espirito Santo, Brazil)

We arrived in Brazil last week and we started from the city of Recife in the North.  It was wonderful to be with brothers and sisters and meet new people who are committed to the Restoration of the First Century Church.  In fact tonight I shall be speaking in the city of Vitoria in a Baptist church where the preacher is very interested in the restoration.  I have spoken in this church already several times and the preacher has attended all my lectures in Vitoria.  It is really interesting to see how many people are really attracted to the idea that we desire to see the church today be like the church that we read about in the New Testament.  This is not a new idea but the normal paradigm of progress in the whole Bible.  The best progress is the one that is based on the beginning – we are all in the process of returning to Eden, to a life of constant communion and fellowship with the Almighty God and all the Saints.  The phenomena of Netivyah in Brazil and the congregations that are committed to the Restoration of both the Church and Israel is one that is not only successful but it is making history because the sustained growth of these congregations is a missiological wonder with magnitude.  It needs your prayers and your support, although I can say with full assurance that all the congregations that are associated with Netivyah in Brazil are totally indigenous and in fact they are making major effort to support Netivyah in Jerusalem with a real Sacrificial Spirit.  I know that they are making a major drive to raise some funds for the building in Jerusalem and no matter how much it is it will be a real sacrificial gift of love for Jerusalem and for Netivyah.

I just received a letter from a young Christian lawyer in Jerusalem who is actually suggesting to the Attorney General of the State of Israel to put a ban on the Yad LeAchim organization for harassment and persecution and denial of civil rights and democratic privileges from people who they don't like their ideas or their faith i.e. mailing Christians and Messianic Jews in the land of Israel.  This effort is so very important. Netivyah or I had nothing to do with it making this happen but we bless those who did.  We hold up the hands of the young Christian lawyers who initiated this move and we ask you to pray for the Lord to show His justice and His righteousness through the legal system of the State of Israel.  A Democratic State ought to protect the civil rights and democratic privileges of its citizens especially when they are upright and well serving citizens like the Community of Disciples of Yeshua the Messiah.

Special Prayer needs in Jerusalem:
Yael our dear sister, a mother of two, and a faithful member of our congregation.  She fell and hurt her leg pretty badly and now can't walk without help.
Elhanan drove his bicycle and fell from it and had 14 stitches near his eye and 9 stitches in his mouth.  Please pray for Elhanan's fast recovery and full healing.
We continue to pray for the chronically ill in our congregation:  We lift up our hands toward heaven with supplication and beg for the healing of David our dear brother, and continued healing for the other David, and for Sarit, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Miriam, Tania, Sara and Zvi and all the others that we might have forgotten to mention.
We also lift up Paulo in Curitiba.  The Lord willing, I will also pray for Paulo in person next week.  Our dear sister Ruby in Oklahoma City continues to suffer from sever pain and disability.  June, Marcia's mother is also suffering  from health problems and needs God's healing hands to touch her with His grace.  Danah and Noaam, and Joey , and Marcia and I, all need a touch of God's merciful hands with healing.  Please pray for us all in the Shulam family.  I have been keeping more than a full schedule of teaching every day with strep throat and may be more, but as they say the Shulam must go on!  Your prayers will help for sure because God honors nudniks and He loves them too.

I will cut this short because it is late at night here in Vitoria of Espirito Santo and tomorrow we travel to Belo-Horizonte early in the morning.

It was wonderful to be here with our brothers and sisters and serve, and it was great to be with our brothers and sisters in Recife and in both places the hospitality was great.  Thank God for brothers and sisters who share the same vision of Restoration for the church and for Israel's salvation.

Thank you for your prayers and for your support!

Joseph Shulam
