The Jerusalem Prayer List - August 19th, 2010

By Joseph Shulam

Living in Israel as a Jewish Disciple of Yeshua our Messiah is really living on the edge of either a spiritual breakthrough or a total collapse of all systems.  One Israel Parliament member said many years ago that in Israel every day you either have a scandal of a party, you either have to wear a steal helmet or a kipa (the traditional Orthodox Jewish little hat that is generally warren by religious Jews.)  The truth is that in Israel one can never be bored because every news cast really has either a scandal or a party.  Right now in Israel a scandal has entered into the Holy of Holies, the top ranking Israel Military Generals have been touched by internal intrigues and corruption.  The Israeli Army is considered by most of the citizens to really be the best of the best and one could in a borrowed sense call it the 'Holy of Holies.'  A document was found or discovered that one of the top Israeli Military Generals who was supposed to be the next appointment as the Chief of Staff  of our illustrious Army.  This document was a kind of slander sheet of some of the other candidates for the same office of Chief of Staff and as the old proverbial statement goes the whole thing hit the fan and the Media, T.V., Newspapers, and Radio, all had a holiday.  So, there is nothing more holy left in the land of Israel other than the Holy-One of Israel, the Lord Almighty.  Some people think that even the Holy-One of Israel, the Lord Almighty, has gone on summer vacation and He does not hear our prayers.  On the other hand I know that He hears our prayers because on Monday this week Israel's major Newspaper came out with an article called, "Yeshua Super-Star" which is one of the most positive articles about Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in Israel.  The article was published in the frame of searching the question "who is a Jew" and in that context the Jewish Disciples of Yeshua were interviewed and the witness was generally speaking very positive.  This article is just one more indication of the change of atmosphere in Israel and the entrance of the Disciples of Yeshua into a new mode of being more acceptable to the general Israeli society.  This article in the Yediot Aharonot newspaper is only one more indication that our life-style and our participation in all of Israel's challenges from the labor force to the military is actually the only way to have a positive witness of our faith in Yeshua.  We have to show our Jewish brothers and sisters that we have not joined the camp of our enemies by becoming disciples of Yeshua.  We have to show that by following the lone Nazarene Rabbi who sacrificed His life for our salvation and accepting Him as the Messiah and the Son of God - we have only become better Jews and better people.  Would you please pray for this trend to continue and for our witness in this land and to the peoples of the land of Israel be only enhanced and grow.

Marcia and I will be leaving for Brazil Saturday night.  This will be the first trip that Marcia is taking after her surgery.  She is still suffering from pain in her knee. She still has some trouble walking but the doctor said that it might be good for her to go and change the scenery.  Please keep both Marcia and I in your prayer for safe travel and for useful service to our brothers and sisters in Brazil.  We are going this time to renew and build up the Restoration vision among our brothers and sisters in Brazil and to do some very intense teaching on video that will be used to teach online all around Brazil and in fact around the world. Please pray for the success and inspiration of these teaching sessions.

We ask you to especially pray for Udi's mother.  She is still in ICU and on life support and although her situation is defined as "stable" by the doctors there is no improvement for more than a month.  We need to see God's hand working in the life of Udi's mother.  Lift your voice and ask God for a healing for this old lady.

We continue to pray for our sick brothers and sisters in Israel, Sara and Zvi, Ilana, Leah, Ahuva, Liora, Sarit, and the two David's of our congregation in Jerusalem, and Ruby in Oklahoma, Paulo in Brazil, Tellervo and Tim in Finland.

I ask you to offer a special prayer for David's father in California.  He is in need for a divine touch of healing.

Please also lift up the soldiers from our congregation and fellowship who serve in the Israeli Defense Forces.  We have more than half a dozen young men and women who serve in the military and they all need your blessings and prayer for safety and for a good positive witness of being disciples of the Messiah.

Today our staff is calling many dozens of people, mainly older Russian immigrants, and either telling them that they have been accepted in the food distribution program or telling them that we are sorry but we can't accept them into the program.  It is actually a very sad thing to do because we are forced to say to so many of these people that we are unable to help them.  We are doing our best with what God has given us and we are stretching the "Benjamin Franklin" as much as we can.  Please pray for the poor of Jerusalem and remember Romans 15:26-27.

We have some Korean Christians in the United States praying for the Kol HaYeshua Radio broadcasts and we hope that we will be able to keep the full hour of broadcast even after October 2010.  Please pray for God's provision to be supplied for the actual broadcasting costs so that His will be done.

Remember to pray for Jerusalem and for Israel.  God will bless those who bless the seed of Abraham . . .
We all appreciate your support in prayer and also financially and we bless you from Jerusalem to see the soon return in the clouds of the Prince of Peace, Yeshua son of David!
