The Jerusalem Prayer List – October 6, 2010
by Joseph Shulam – from Jerusalem, Israel
One of the most wonderful things in Israel is living with a vision, having a purpose filled life. Israel is a country infused with high hope and fantastic expectations and it is these that fuel our lives in this country. People have immigrated to Israel from all around the world and the reason that they did it is that they believed in God's promises and that this land is given by God to Abraham and his seed forever. This faith of the people of Israel has brought immigrants from more than 100 nations and now even from China there are a few Jews who are immigrating to Israel. Every day that this country exists is really a miracle and this is the reason that it is so important for you to pray for Israel and for the salvation of the Jewish people and to look for ways, every way, to bless what God is doing in this land. We all say it so very clearly from the Scriptures: “For the LORD will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance. But judgment will return to righteousness, And all the upright in heart will follow it. Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the LORD had been my help, My soul would soon have settled in silence. If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” (Psa. 94:14-19)
Israel is in a political mess as in fact it has always been, but now Israel has made some major mistakes and entered a trap set well by the high and mighty who run the world. It is like the words of the prophet: “He has been to me a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in ambush.” (Lam. 3:10) The Israeli government can not make decisions to please President Obama and the Arab League and the Hamas terrorists. If Israel would agree not to build in Judea and Samaria it is a de-facto giving up our rights on the whole land of Israel that God has given to Abraham forever. Israel needs your prayers! On the other hand it seems like it is silly not to give two more months of moratorium on the building in Judea and Samaria and get the peace process to continue and also get from Obama more promises that might be or might not be kept. It is a difficult situation that they State of Israel is now. Only God can give our government the wisdom that is needed.
The US dollar is dropping in value all around the world and in Israel it has not been so low as it is now for fifty hears. This of course hurts all the world, but it might be good for the United States because it makes the US exports more affordable for exports around the world. In Israel we have lost at least 40% of the value of the US Dollar, and it is felt in the way we can do God's Work in Israel.
We are fast preparing for the conference in Portugal, and we need your prayers for this conference. Those of you who have registered through the web page and have not heard from EuroMar Travel Agnecy - please write a note to the following e-mail addresses and urge them to answer: “Sandra Teixeira - Euromar Travel Agency" <incoming6@euromar-travel.com>, '"Bruno Barreto - Euromar Travel Agency" <sales.manager@euromar-travel.com>
The conference is of great importance for those millions of people in Portugal and in South America who come from a Jewish background. It is so important for the world to know the condition of these people and also for these millions of people who are Christians on the outside and Jews on the inside to know that many in the world are standing with them and that they are not forgotten and no long at the “cruel mercy of the Catholic Church.” These souls whom I consider captives need to be released or at least given a fair chance to make a free choice of who they are and where they want to be. This is what this conference in Portugal is all about, and all of you who support us and pray for us please keep on praying for Netivyah, for Ensinando de Siao in Brazil, and for the city of Castelo de Vide in Portugal.
We have some serious challenges in Kol HaYeshua Radio Broadcasts. We have wonderful programs, thousands of them on tape or disk or computer, and of course they are all in Hebrew because Kol HaYeshua is only broadcasting in the Hebrew language. I ask you to pray for Kol HaYeshua for three things: Responses from interested hearers. For God to open the doors so that we don't lose the 30 minutes that Through The Bible supported until now. For all of us who do programs to have the inspiration to make programs that are inspiration, interesting, informative, and true.
Sara our dear sister is still in a convalescing home near Jerusalem. She is receiving physical-therapy and Zvi her husband is at home. Both Sara and Zvi need your prayers. They are both past 85 years old and it is not easy for them to be apart. They have been together for more than 65 years happily married. They are both great examples to all of us and although in Russian they say, “old age is not joy”, we are very happy to have Sara and Zvi in our congregation.
Marcia, my wife, continues to improve after her knee surgery. Today she walked up the street, up a whole lot of stairs, and than down the street and down a whole lot of stairs. It was not easy for her, but just three months ago there is no way that she could have done this kind of walking. Please keep praying for her, and for Danah our daughter and Noaam our grand-daughter, and for Barry, Joseph, and Beth our other children and family in Tennessee. Also, keep Marcia's mother, June, in your prayers.
We all continue to lift up in prayer, Lonnie and Barbara, Ruby, Paulo, Tim Tucker, and all those whom you know to be sick and need God's healing hands to touch them. We also ask you to continue to pray for Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Sarit, David S., the other David and his family.
The Lord willing, next week is going to be very full and busy before I fly to Germany, and from there to Korea, and from there to Japan. After Japan I am returning home for two weeks and go with the Netivyah staff to Portugal for the conference. Please pray for me on this three weeks long trip with teaching every day and doing everything from intercession to instruction to encouragement and of course to some fund-raising for Netivyah.
I will keep this prayer list shorter and bless you for your care and support and for your intercession for us here in Jerusalem, Israel, Brazil, Finland, Germany, Korea, Japan, the United States . . .
