The Jerusalem Prayer List - January 20, 2011

By Joseph Shulam

Mr. Ehud Barak our former illustrious military man and the present defense minister was until two days ago the head of the Israeli labor party.  Two days ago he and three other Labor Party Parliament members abandoned the Labor Party and started a new party called “Independence,” in Hebrew “Atzmaut.”  This is not the first time that our politicians do this but it is definitely not the usual and normal way that Israeli politics run.  The feeling among the people is that our country does not have a clear vision and that our leaders only care for themselves and for their own private welfare.  I don’t know if you have the same feeling about your own country, but I do know that the Bible says, “Without a vision the people perish.”  I suppose that in Israel the nation is not totally clear on what vision or ideological basis we function or exist in this land. Materialism has proven to be a leaky boat that can’t be trusted.  Capitalism has proven itself to be a white sheet covering the worst of human lusts and appetites.  Communism has proven that to be totally bankrupt even from the very first years of it’s existence.  The Catholic church has proven to be unsafe for young boys.  The Russian Orthodox Church has proven to be more greedy than those sitting in the Moscow Kremlin over all the centuries until this very day.  The Orthodox Jewish Rabbinic authorities have proven to be all of the above.  There does not seem to be much for which people are willing to die in the Western world.  The Islamic radicals seem to be the only ones who have such strong faith in their religion and a clear vision of their desire to win the world to Islam by all and by every means.  I think that our prayers should start moving from our micro problems and personal world to where the heart of God is and that is for the whole world, “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . .”  As Disciples of Yeshua our Messiah we should start again to pray for the salvation of the world, and from the world to our families and from our families to our communities and from our communities to our nations and again for the whole world.

The Heart of God is for the whole world and our heart has to be for the whole world.

Tonight, the Lord willing, I shall be traveling to Amsterdam, Netherlands, to teach in Beit Yeshua's Midrasha Lamdeni.  For the last five years I have been going every year to Amsterdam and teaching in this Midrasha (a kind of Jewish style school for adults).  This year, the Lord willing, I shall be teaching a course on Angels in the Bible.  The course will cover a general survey Angels in the Bible and in the Ancient World, and specifically dealing with a heresy that is spreading in some Evangelical Christian circles that want to identify the Angel of the Lord as Jesus.  In my opinion Yeshua/Jesus is far above all the Angels.  Please pray for me because I have a small infection in my left toe and although it is small is painful and bothersome.

Marcia is with her family in East Tennessee.  Her father had a stroke last week.  Marcia's father is at home and beginning therapy and we all pray that the use of his right leg and right arm will be quickly restored and he will be back to his normal activities very soon.  Please continue to pray for Marcia and for her father and family to be protected and healthy.

The program of the Food Distribution of Netivyah is going according to schedule and there will be families and needy people who will be screened and overseen by the social services of the authorities.  This is going to be a much more effective way of dealing with the needy in Jerusalem.  Yuda feels that our effectivity in feeding the needy is going to increase greatly and that we are going to be able to do much more than we are doing now, more effective, and with the same amount of funds. We do need your prayers and support for this pure humanitarian blessing for the citizens of Jerusalem.  I heard to day that one of the American Jewish Missionary organizations has rented a place very close to us in town in order to distribute dry goods to the needy twice a month. The greatest compliment of all and the greatest flattery is for us to see that more people are and ministries are doing the same or close to the same thing that we started to do so many years ago.   It is so important that Jewish Disciples of Yeshua participate in the hands on doing for the people and the land of Israel.  Just talking and preaching is nothing to the Jewish people after two thousand years of anti-semitism and hate and pogroms and holocausts. Now it is a good time to show that God loves the Jewish people and that Christians love the Jewish people because the Messiah Yeshua is Jewish and Jews gave the whole World the Word of God.  (see Romans 3:1-3)

Kol HaYeshua continues to produce quality programs in Hebrew for the Radio and for the internet.  I just finished a ten lesson in Hebrew on the “Messianic Idea and Super-Heros.”It is an interesting approach looking at the Biblical Messianic Idea in light of the Western model of Super-Heros.  This series are already posted on the Netivyah Web Page: www.netivyah.org

We have the possibility for dentists from the whole world to come to Jerusalem and volunteer to do work with children and needy people.  This is in cooperation with the city social services and if there are any dentists who would like to come for two weeks of volunteer work in Jerusalem please contact us.  They are now scheduling volunteers for the year 2012.  I think that this is another one of these rare opportunities to be a blessing to the Jewish people and to the poor of Jerusalem in a very much hands on way and without any walls of separation.  Please keep these opportunities in your prayers and pray that Netivyah will be a living hands on blessing to Israel.

Please lift up Meyrav a young lady who has just gone through surgery for cancer.  Meyrav is a dear and beautiful young lady and we are praying for good report post surgery and above all that she will be able to get married in February and rejoice with a new lease on life and God's goodness in her life. Please also keep Grace in your prayers.  Grace is another wonderful young sister who is coping with cancer and needs a continuation of God's healing hands.  We continue to pray for Ruby our dear sister who continues to suffer pain and seriously needs a miracle. We also pray for Paulo in Curitiba, Brazil.

In Jerusalem we pray for Liora, Ahuva, Ilana, Leah, Sara, Zvi, Sarit, and David S., and the other David too.  In fact also pray for me with this infection on my left toe.  Praying for the sick is considered a big and important Mitzvah (good deed – keeping of commandment) that carries with it a blessing by the rule of by the measure that you measure others you yourself will be measured. So, please don't forget to pray for the sick.  Also keep Danah and Noaam and Beth our daughter-in-law in your prayers for good health and protection and healing.
Please keep praying for the Law in Israel to function righteously in March when our case will be heard by the Highest Court in Israel. The date of our trial is March 28th, 2011.  We need all of you to daily lift up the State of Israel and bless the judges of Israel and call upon the Lord to make justice in the land of Israel.

God bless all of you that pray for Jerusalem and for us personally and fulfill all of His promises of blessings to you personally and to your families.
