The Jerusalem Prayer List – May 4th, 2011

The news of Bin Ladin's death has shaken the Western World and has produced some mixed reactions in the Arab World. What should be our perspective of these dramatic events? We ought to remember that as we fight against Islamo-Faschist terrorism we are not to be motivated by vengeance because God said: “Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.’” (Deut. 32:35) The book of Proverbs said: “He who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.” (Prov. 17:5)
In Israel when calamity has come from Palestinian Terrorism and we have lost citizens and the Palestinians were dancing and rejoicing and handing out candy, happy that Jews were killed, we condemned them. You have not seen Israelis rejoice that Palestinians were killed. You have not seen Israelis dancing and jumping form joy that in Gaza women and children were killed. As disciples of Yeshua we can't be too happy that people are killed, we can be sorry, we can be sad that we had to kill terrorists who threaten our civilian population, we can be satisfied that our soldiers have succeeded in stopping acts of violence and aggression against our population and children, but we can't rejoice at the calamity of our enemys. As Golda Maier our former prime minister said in the early 1970's: “We can forgive the Palestinians for killing our children, but we can never forgive them for causing our children to kill theirs.”
Now we need to pray the the intelligence sources of the Western World and of Israel will reveal any plot of the Islamo-Faschists to cause more violence. We need to pray that God will thwart any attempts to avenge Osama Bin Ladin's death by a major act of terrorism. We need to pray for the followers of Bin Ladin to realize the error of their ways and repent.
We need to pray for what is happening in Syria. There are hundreds, even thousands, protestors being killed in Syria. Today there were documents of the Syrian intelligence published in Israel that Bashar Asad has asked operatives from Hezbollah from Lebanon to enter Syria and help stop the riots against him.
Our world is changing very fast and the geo-political situation in the Middle East. The ousting dictators and tyrants who have been ruling with an iron hand for decades is wonderful, but no one knows what will take their place. Our prayers should be for God to intervene and really install democratic and peace seeking governments in these Arab countries and in fact prevent the extremist Islamic Jihadist parties from taking over these countries. God can do it because He is the One who raises Kings and governments and puts them down.
In Netivyah we are keeping very busy and it is time now to discuss our program for giving grants to Students. We have been blessing brothers and sisters who are students in one of the institutions of higher learning in Israel. We have been giving 10 grants per year of 2000 dollars each in order to upgrade the socio-economic level of the body of the Messiah in Israel. We have a wonderful group of young students, both Jews and Arabs, who are students. We have students who are studding law, Bible, History, Literature, Tourist guides, and engineering. Over the years we have blessed and made it possible for many brothers and sisters to become lawyers, and doctors, and every other good profession and bring a blessing to the land and the body of the Messiah. I know that we already have some brothers from Japan who are going to join this tour in Israel. I realize that it is a short time to the time of this tour, and we should have planned it long before, but we are actually doing this tour because people have asked us to do it. So, we are going to have only one bus. When this bus is full we will no longer be able to accept registration for this tour.
We continue praying for the sick. Please mention in your prayers the following brothers and sisters and ask God to heal them: Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Ruby, Paulo, Tim, David, and David S., Sarit, Marcia, Danah, Noaam, Horace and June who are Marcia's father and mother, and Ishiida San.
Please pray also for several brothers and sisters who are suffering from loss of job, and need of jobs, and just need financial blessings to pay rent and just survive. Netivyah helps many people from our circles and also from other congregations with financial emergency help.
We are so thankful to God for your prayers and support. Our emphasis on the restoration of our faith and of Israel is unique among the believers in Israel. There are only a few who really believe that we, today, should be like the brothers that we read about in the Book of Acts, believers in Yeshua and full of zeal for the Torah.
We are thankful to God for you and we pray for the Good Lord to bless you in every way for blessing Israel, just as He has spoken to Abraham our father.
