Jerusalem Prayer List February 16, 2017
By Joseph Shulam – from Vitoria, E.S. Brazil
Praise the Lord we have arrived in Brazil today and arrived in the city of Vitoria, of the State of Espirito Santo. We are in the hotel now, Yuda and Marcia are resting and I am doing some email answering and preparing teachings and now I am writing the Jerusalem Prayer List. We are excited to be here in this city. 19 years ago, I had the privilege of baptizing 19 young men and women in the swimming pool of the Chief of Police of this state. It was the instant establishment of a congregation that was called Netivyah. Now there is a new congregation with young families many of whom were among that first group of High School students that were baptized and committed to the Restoration of the Church and Israel. Yuda carried a beautiful Torah Scroll that is 200 years old but in wonderful condition and with a certificate of Kosher that Netivyah is giving as a gift to the new congregation. The name of the new congregation is: Hessed Ve’Emmet – Grace and Truth. The leaders are for the most part the male leaders of the Netivyah congregation, and they have don’t a magnificent work in renting and remodeling and fixing the new location. Please pray for the Hessed Ve’Emmet congregation in Vitoria of Espirito Santo, Brazil. Pray that the leadership will be faithful and lead this congregation of young families in the paths of righteousness and healthy growth to be a blessing to the members and their children and to be a blessing to this city of Vitoria. This city of Vitoria is one of the most violent cities in Brazil and it needs the Good News of Yeshua – the Message the transforms lives and takes the old man of the flesh and transforms him into the “ONE NEW MAN” that Paul is talking about in Ephesians.
This week’s portion of reading from the Torah is called Jethro. The same Jethro who was the father-in-law of Moses. I know that there are very few men who want to take advice from their fathers-in-law, but Moses needed this advice just like I need the same advice too. It is hard to be a leader that delegates authority in a healthy and organized way. Here is the text:
“And so it was, on the next day, that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood before Moses from morning until evening. So when Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did for the people, he said, “What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit, and all the people stand before you from morning until evening?”
And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God. When they have a difficulty, they come to me, and I judge between one and another; and I make known the statutes of God and His laws.”
So Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good. Both you and these people who are with you will surely wear yourselves out. For this thing is too much for you; you are not able to perform it by yourself. Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to God. And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do. Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you. If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace.”” (Exodus 18:13–23 NKJV)
Jethro gave Moses over 3000 years ago the best corporate advice that any manager would be wise to receive and practice. We have here a text that is near 3000 years old, given by a non-Jew, a gentile pagan priest and Moses goes out and does his best to preform and put to practice the principles of leadership that Jethro gave him. It is not easy to take advice from our fathers-in-law, but if you read the text in Exodus 18 you will see how many times the words “Father-in-law” appear you will understand that the Holy Spirit specifically stresses this fact so that we all know that a good father-in-law can give you good advice that is worth learning. As Israelites, we are good in many things, but organization is not one of these areas that we are very strong. Moses took Jethro’s advice and this was a great help, but at the same time later it was one of the causes of the Korahite rebellion against Moses and Aaron. Too much organization and too much of a pyramid structure can also be unbeneficial.
I have a special prayer request for the relationship between our Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi) and the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump. This is a topic to pray for. All Disciples of Yeshua and those who love God and love Israel ought to pray for both leaders to work together well and to have divine wisdom to know what ought to be done to bring calm and stability to the Middle East and an end to Arab/Palestinian terrorism.
We have a young man who is the son of one of our dear friends and brothers from the north of Israel whose name is Daniel. He had his Bar-Mitzvah together with my son Barry’s Bar-Mitzvah. Last Friday Daniel had a very bad motorcycle accident. He was very seriously wounded with damage to his backbone and to his pelvic and let. Yesterday he had reconstructive surgery on his pelvic and upper legs. Please pray for Daniel P.
Praise the Lord, Barry our son is improving. He is back at work and his wound is slowly healing. Barry still needs your prayers for healing, and health.
I will keep this prayer list short because I am falling asleep from jet-lag.
Here is the same list of the sick from last week. Please keep praying for the healing of our brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to pray for Netivyah, for Hamotzi food distribution Center, for Kol HaYeshua Radio, for the publications of Netivyah and the New Teaching from Zion that is scheduled to come out in March. Pray and see ways to bless the Netivyah ministry. We are getting to the point that we are going to have to replace the two vehicles that serve the needs of Netivyah. The van is 11 years old and the car is 14 years old. If you contribute toward the cars pleae make a note and the funds will be set for the vihicles.
Pray for Marcia, Yuda, and myself as we travel to minister, teach, and bless our brothers in Brazil and this time also in Argentina.
There is a young man by the name of Israel who is the son of one of our leaders in Brazil. Please lift Israel in your prayers. He is a wonderful young man who needs much help to get his life together. He can do it with a little bit of help from God. Now he is ready to seek God and I am sure that God will be found by Israel.
Please keep Danah our daughter and Noaam our granddaughter in your prayers. Danah is doing her best and more than her best to be a good mother. She has been living an extreme Sacrificial life for her daughter. Danah needs your prayers. Please pray for God to give Danah a breakthrough in her life. Pray to God to give her strength and give her health and give Noaam a deep appreciation for her mother and peace in her heart.
Please keep praying for the sick brothers and sisters from all around the World. I would like to ask you to pray for some friends who have a need for God’s blessing on their work: Chung and Sister Lee. I have special concern for our dear brother Goh and his family, and for Sister Christy, Sister Laurel, and for Brother Michael Kenzevic, and Daniel L., and his company. Pray for our dear brother David H., and his family in Finland. These are brothers who have needs in their work and God is gracious to bless and help those who have concern to bless others.

Praying for the sick is something that we are not giving up. We never know the minute in which God will send his healing and touch those for whom you are praying for healing. It can be a physical healing and it can be healing of lives that are broken and it can be healing of people’s business and work. God bless you all for praying for these needs and praying for Israel, and for Netivyah and all the wonderful things that are being done by a very small and busy staff.
God bless you and yours and provide for you all the blessings and prayers for Israel and for us personally.
May the good Lord keep all HIS blessings flowing to you and from you for the body of the Messiah worldwide.
