Jerusalem Prayer List January 13, 2017

By Joseph Shulam

I apologize that I have not been able to write the Jerusalem Prayer List on time.  The week started with a terrible terrorist attack on a group of young Israeli soldiers from an officers’ course who came to Jerusalem to study and tour the biblical sites in Jerusalem.  A big heavy truck just ran into the group of soldiers as they were getting off the bus.  Four soldiers, three women and one man, were killed by the truck.  Seventeen soldiers were wounded in different degrees of injuries.  The most serious thing about these terrorist attacks is that they are copy-cat attacks.  After the ISIS attack with a big truck in Nice, France, and two weeks ago in Berlin, Germany, the same tactic was used.  The terrorist in Jerusalem lived very close to the locations of this terrible event.  The place is visited by almost every tourist that visits Jerusalem.  It is on the hill of evil council not far from the United Nations Head Quarters in the Middle East.  It is the look-out toward the North and the old city and mount of Olives and the Kedron Valley.  From this place, you can see the city of David and the Temple Mount, and both Mt. of Olives and Mt. Scopus, and in fact most of the old city of Jerusalem.  From this village and from the family of this terrorist came out more than a dozen terrorist attacks in Jerusalem.  Israel has used a soft-hand against terrorists who are Israeli citizens and have a blue I.D. card like every other Israeli citizen – the same kind of I.D. card that I have and Marcia has and every Jew, or Christian in Israel has.  This event might change the way Israel looks at Israeli citizens that engage in terrorist acts.  I think that it is time to pray for God to give wisdom to the Israeli authorities in the way that they ought to deal with Muslim terrorists who are out to do one thing only and that is kill Jews.

Please pray for me.  The Lord willing, I shall fly out on Sunday to Amsterdam, Holland, to teach in Bible School of Beit Yeshua Amsterdam.  The topic of my teaching is unique and not many have engaged this topic.  I suppose because it is a bit complicated and some would consider it controversial.  The topic is a comparison of Yeshua’s teaching and Paul’s teaching. What did Paul know of Yeshua and of the Messiah’s teaching.  My goal is to show the comparison on one hand and to synchronize the teaching of Yeshua with that of Paul and give the reasons for the differences.

For Jews, it is very important to understand the “way” and the “how” there is a difference between Paul and Yeshua.  There are many Rabbis who are in the process of study of Yeshua.  Among Jews there is a misconception of the Apostle Paul.  Paul is attributed to be the founder of Christianity and not Yeshua.  Especially the attitude of Christians against the Torah and against Circumcision is misunderstood by Jewish scholars and Rabbis through-out of the centuries.  The Apostle Peter says: “Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unsteadfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”  (2 Peter 3:14–18 ASV)

So, with God’s help and your prayers I shall be able to elucidate the realationship of Paul’s teaching and Yeshua’s teaching.

Please keep praying for Netivyah and the Roeh Israel congregation in Jerusalem.  I have such a joy to see the young generation of leaders take charge and begin to lead.  I know that Netivyah and the congregation will have a great future and contribute a great contribution to the restoration of Israel, the community of disciples of Yeshua worldwide, and for the World. We need your prayers for the young leadership in Netivyah.

Please continue to pray for Barry our son.  His healing is slow and laborious.  Your prayers will bless my family and enable Marcia and I to continue going forward with the message of Restoration from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.  Please keep Danah our daughter and Noaam our granddaughter in your prayers.  Danah is a hero as a single mother with extreme difficulties she is still serving God and the community.  Pray to God to give her strength and give her health and give Noaam a clear view of the sacrificial life that her mother has to provide Noaam everything she needs and most of what she wants.

Please keep praying for the sick brothers and sisters from all around the World. I would like to ask you to pray for some friends who have a need for God’s blessing on their work:  Chung and Sister Lee.  I have special concern for our dear brother Goh and his family, and for Sister Christy, Sister Laurel, and for Brother Michael Kenzevic, and Daniel L., and his company.   These are brothers who have needs in their work and God is gracious to bless and help those who have concern to bless others.

Please don’t forget to especial pray for healing and strength for our dear brothers in Murfreesboro.  Pray for our dear brother and sister Bobby, and Emmet, and Joe M., and Gloria D., these are all very precious brothers and friends are battling serious health issues and we must keep them in our prayers.

Please don’t forget to pray for our dear sister Ruby, and for my finest teachers, Dr. John McRay, and George Howard.

Keep Gary in your prayers and Nancy’s and Don’s son Aharon who is doing better now, but still is struggling with a tumor in his brain keep him in your prayers please! Yuri Marianenko a member of our congregation in Jerusalem is fighting a prostate cancer.  Our wonderful older brothers and sisters need our prayers:  Ahuvah Ben Meir, David Stern, Marcia Shulam, Sarit, Miriam, Ilana, and Leah.  This week I am adding to this prayer list our dear sister Lydia – lift her up in your prayers and ask for special encouragement for her from the Lord Himself.

We lift up our dear brothers and sisters Clara, Paulo, Naomi, Tim Tucker, Anna, Anne-Mirijami, Satu-Maria, Anna-Majia, Sinni Tuuli, Erki and Sirpa, and Evelina, Eva H., and our dear sister Liz J., in Georgia, and Horace and June Marcia’s parents.

We especially lift up before your throne of mercy Marcelo’s father and mother in Belo-Horizonte. We pray for the following dear brothers and sisters: Pastor Curita in Tokyo, Toru San, and the husband of Yumi, Sadako San, Shoko San, Takeo Sensei and Tomoko San all in Japan.

I bless all of you who are praying and supporting the work of the Lord in Israel.  May all the blessings promised to those who bless Abraham’s seed, and may you see the fulfillment of all your dreams.  My gratitude is beyond words!  God bless you my dear Brothers and Sisters.  Please keep praying for the Restoration of the church and of Israel.

Pray for a victory over the forces of terrorism around the World.  The source of all these terrorist activities around the whole world is known and it is one.  It is the same source that hit the twin towers in New York City on 9/11, and the carnage in Nice, France, and the Christmas market in Berlin, Germany, and reached all the way to Bally, and San-Bernardino, California, and Orlando, Florida, and and and, all the way to Jerusalem last Sunday!  If Christians don’t wake up and confront this source of evil in the world no one else is going to do anything.  The thing to do is not use the same iron and steel tools of war and destruction, but to use the weapons of war that are listed so clearly in the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians.

May God have mercy on our World! We need to learn to use these tools of spiritual warfare, and I am sorry to say that we are not training our brothers and sisters to at least know the real meaning of these tools of war and learn how to use them effectively.  It is not impossible it is possible and the Holy Spirit is there to guide us, but only if we stop pretending to have the Holy Spirit and stop being satisfied with the fake and go after the real power of God that is effective like a two-edged sword.  If the Christians will be satisfied with the fake the real thing is not going to show up.

God bless you my dear brothers and sisters, stay faithful to God and to His Word and Spirit,

Joseph Shulam
