THE JERUSALEM PRAYER LIST – JULY 14, 2016
By Joseph Shulam – from London, UK.
Shalom is a word that has many meanings. Today we are saying Shalom to one of our dear faithful brothers Zvi L., for whom you have been praying for several years. Zvi is being buried today in Jerusalem, in the Land of Israel. Zvi has suffered intensely for several months in the Hadassah I.C.U. fighting for his life. Zvi is a survivor of the Holocaust who immigrated to Israel right after World War II. He is one of those young men who joined the battle for Israel’s independence almost right after landing off the ship. His wife Sara, his two sons and his daughter and grandchildren survive Zvi. The Roeh Israel Congregation of Jewish Disciples of Yeshua in Jerusalem will miss him greatly. You should know that Zvi and Sara moved from the northern city of Nahariah (above Haifa near the Lebanese boarder) to Jerusalem just for one reason – to be close and be a part of Netivyah and the Roeh Israel Congregation. May Zvi in blessed memory be remembered and honored by all of Netivyah and the Roeh Israel Congregation as a source of encouragement and inspiration to be courageous and faithful to our Master and Saviour. Please especially keep Sara in your prayers.
I am watching my World change but not for the better! I see the termites (one of the definitions from the dictionary: light-colored social insect) eating away the very source of their existence. The termites feed on the wood that they live in until there is no more wood left. I ask you to pray for the USA – because in my opinion what is going on in the USA is a danger for the entire civilized world. There is a process of fragmentation of every good thing and every high value of humanity for which civilization has every stood for. This fragmentation is best seen with the issues and slogans that are being bandied roughly written on cardboard placards: “Black Lives Matter,” “White Lives Matter!” The only valuable placard ought to be “All lives Matter.” Everything less than a united front against racism and discrimination and terrorism of every color, race, or religion, is another form of decay and putrid existence that will bring down another great empire like it brought down Babylon, and Persia, and Greece, and Rome . . .
The United States of America needs our prayer. More specifically especially the religious leadership in the USA and all around the world need our prayers. There is no one else in the world that is more powerful to bring change and sanity into our world than the religious leadership of Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Religion is still the most powerful element and source of influence, power for change, and inspiration to love, than any other power in God’s Good Creation. However it is also the most powerful source of evil and hate and war throughout all of human history. The second story in the Bible – the hate and murder of one brother against the other is all based on religious activities. Cain killed his brother Able – for religious reasons. If we, the Disciples of Yeshua, don’t stand for what is right and fair and loving, and gracious, and just, who will do it? I call on all Christians and Jews and Muslims to think of how to improve our lives and our world and pray to the God who Created this World for mercy and for peace, cooperation of all without selfish ambitions to make peace in our world. I pray for this very big challenge and I believe according to the prophecy of Isaiah 11:8-9, “They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” Already in the Torah we have this wonderful prophetic promise of the Lord: Leviticus. 26:6, “‘I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.”
I pray for Israel and the challenges that stand before the government to bring an end to the terrorism and hate mongering that is going on both sides. There too, unless the religious leadership of Israel and our neighbors i.e. Islam and Christianity wake up and put out the fire of hate and terrorism, later when they will they might find it too late to put this fire out. Those who set fire in these fields of dry grass, a fire of hate and lack of honor or respect for any authority will not be able to put out this fire. It will be too late! Pray, Pray, and Pray some more.
Please don’t forget to especial pray for healing and strength for our dear brother Tom from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and also in the same town pray for Bobby, and Emet, and Joe, and Gloria D., these are all very precious brothers and friends are battling serious health issues.

We have arrived safely in England and we are looking forward to a blessed Shabbat with brothers and sisters who stand with Israel and with Netivyah in prayer and in support. This is actually the first time that we will be meeting with these brothers and sisters for Shabbat. Please keep us all in your prayers and ask the Lord for our protection and safe travel back home to Jerusalem on Sunday. Keep in your prayer Terrance and Angelina who are in Canada now. Leah K., and Ilana H., from our congregation are traveling in Finland. We ask safety and blessing on all our brothers and sisters who are traveling.
Our brothers in Japan have opened a welcome center in Kyoto, Japan. I pray and ask you to pray for this welcome center to be blessed by God and used by God to bring a blessing to Israeli travellers to this beautiful ancient city.
Especially pray for the new congregation in Vitoria, E.S., Brazil and their leadership, and for the Teaching from Zion Ministry in Brazil, and the Har Zion Congregation in Belo-Horizonte, and for the Sar EL congregation in Curitiba.
All the Glory and Honor for our Lord the Creator of this World and to Yeshua our Savior and Teacher and the Son of the most High!
Thank you all for your prayers and for your standing with us in doing this work for the Kingdom of God!
P.S. – I challenge all of the Preachers, Pastors, Leaders, and just every one to take this issue of religious hate mongering very seriously. All of us are guilty to some degree and all of us need to change our message and attitude in order to fix this problem. If we don’t work on making peace and being more tolerant and understanding with our enemies and with our friends and brothers too – this fire will devour us.
